SB Kitchen: Heart-healthy Caprese Salad Recipe
We've been busy whipping up some serious snacks in the SB kitchen this afternoon! Today, we're featuring a heart-healthy caprese salad, complete with heart-shaped mozzarella in honor of Valentine's Day and Heart Health Month! This filling, nutritious snack is super easy to make and is a guaranteed crowd pleaser. Follow along with us using the recipe below:
Prep time: 5 minutes
Servings: 5-7
Ingredients:
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella
- 1 Large organic Tomato
- Fresh basil
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Balsamic vinegar
- Sea Salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Small heart-shaped cookie cutter
- 1. Cut the mozzarella into 1/4" slices (we cheated a bit and skipped this step by buying pre-cut fresh mozzarella!). Use the small cookie cutter to cut out a heart shape in each slice. Set the hearts aside.
- 2. Cut the tomato into 1/4" slices as well. We suggest using a large, organic tomato to maximize your veggies!
- 3. Pull off the basil leaves, and place on the center of each tomato. Repeat with the mozzarella hearts.
- 4. Lightly drizzle oil and vinegar over everything. Finish off with cracked sea salt and pepper to taste!
